By definition mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. Mindfulness also refers to the cultivation of this basic human ability through methods, including meditationmindful movementmindful eating, and others. We call this “mindfulness practice” to distinguish it from the basic ability.
